Master & PhD Scholarships for Mexican Students

Mexican Students have an opportunity to apply for funding to do their PhD studies abroad through the scholarships available from the Mexican Council for Science & Technology (CONACYT).

Please note CONACYT regional offices ("entidades federales") may open additional calls for applications with different deadlines throughout the year.

Call for Applications and Deadlines 2018

The central call for full PhD funding for 2018 is open from 26 February until 15 June 2018.

Students themselves are responsible to submit their application to CONACYT. The following general dates & deadlines for PhD applicants apply:

  • Applications to be submitted as of 16 April 2018
  • Application deadline: 15 June 2018
  • Publication of results: 27 July 2018

Start of scholarship: before 15 March 2019

For Prospective Master Students

CONACYT regional offices have published calls for prospective master students which include Health Sciences, i.e. the programs offered by the Graduate School of Medical Sciences of the University Medical Center Groningen/University of Groningen.

The Graduate School of Medical Sciences offers several master programs. Prospective students need to:

  • Hold a bachelor degree in a relevant field
  • Meet the master program's English language requirements
  • Be in possession of a letter of admission from the master program of their choice

For Prospective PhD Students

Applicants will need to provide the following documents to CONACYT:

  • Letter of acceptance, contact the Graduate School of Medical Sciences
  • PhD project proposal
  • CV of PhD supervisor (max. 5 pp.)
  • Outline of the PhD curriculum: use the PhD Study Guide

For UMCG Supervisors

In order to prepare the letter of acceptance for CONACYT applicants, UMCG Principal Investigators should provide the Graduate School of Medical Sciences with the following supporting information and documents:

CV of the candidate, including:

  • Full name
  • Place & date of birth
  • E-mail address

About the project:

  • Total number of months of funding requested (max. 48 months)
  • Provisional start date PhD project
  • PhD project title
  • Title(s) and name(s) of supervisor(s) and their departmental affiliation(s)

PhD Scholarship Program University of Groningen and UMCG

The University of Groningen and the UMCG currently top up PhD scholarships within the framework of the PhD Scholarship Program.
