Meet our Staff Ambassadors Chile!
In Chile, our main research collaborations are with Universidad de Chile (UCH) and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC). Both institutions have been visited by the Rector of the University of Groningen in September 2014. At the occasion, an agreement for the co-supervision of PhD students was signed with PUC, which makes it possible for Groningen and PUC to award a double PhD degree based on a joint curriculum for PhD studies.
Harry van Goor is staff ambassador for Chile. He is a professor of experimental nephropathology at the Department of Pathology of the UMCG.
Jan-Luuk Hillebrands has enjoyed good relations with both UCH as well as PUC for a number of years. Most recently, through a CONICYT networking grant obtained by his colleagues Dr. Andrea Leiva and Prof. Luis Sobrevia of PUC. Jan-Luuk's current research focus is the role of deranged vascular progenitor cell function in the development of clinical and experimental transplant vasculopathy and diabetes-associated macrovascular disease. He is also linked to the Department of Pathology of the UMCG.
